Prayer in our school is a vital opportunity to think not only about our own needs, but about the needs of others. In our many prayerful moments, we also give thanks to God for all that he has given us.
Our daily prayers begin with our Morning Offering, which helps us to prepare for the day ahead.
Our Grace Before Meals reminds us to be thankful for the food we have and for all who make it possible for us to be fed. After lunch, we praise God for all we have and for those we can share with, when we say our Grace After Meals.
Before we go home, we say our Home Time Prayer, where we finish our day by thanking God for all that we are grateful for.
Celebration of the Word (Child Led/Supported)
During each week, liturgical prayer sessions allow children to explore a range of prayer types. Children are encouraged to prepare and deliver their own in small groups for their class. In Response to The Word, children explore creative prayer experiences.
Talking to God - Prayer Journals
A prayer journal is a place for children to write your thoughts and prayers. There are many different ways to use their prayer journal. Children can draw; write poems or prayers; write the names of people you want to pray for or list any worries or problems they have. Whenever we journal we will play quiet music to help us to reflect and to remind us that this is a prayer time.
Key Stage Worship
Once a week, the children gather for the Celebration of the Word in their Key Stages. The themes of these can be linked to the liturgical year, Catholic Social Teaching and our trust virtues.
Whole School Worship
Every Monday, Mrs Parnell or Mrs Hall plan and deliver a Celebration of the Word with the whole school. It is linked to the Gospel readings from Sunday Mass, as well as relevant themes linking to our liturgical year and diocesan themes.
